A Sit-Down Restaurant with an Outside Play Area - YES!

Frequently, we find ourselves caught between eating at a sit-down restaurant and eating somewhere that has a play area where our kids can entertain themselves and not drive everyone at the table batty with their restlessness.

So I was thrilled to find a sit-down restaurant that has an outside play area this week - I must have driven by this specific Joe's Crab Shack a million times and never noticed. But when we pulled up and unloaded, my boys made a beeline for the play area even though it wasn't quite 60 degrees outside yet. They do have a porch and heat lamps, but we chose to sit inside. The kids area doesn't have a way to get out without coming into the restaurant unless you climb over the wooden railings. It's fine for slightly older children, but if you have younger kids you would need to sit within eye sight of them.

Make no mistake though when it warms up soon - we will be back. Even if it's just for drinks on the patio or dessert, if I don't have a sitter, Joe's Crab Shack will be at the top of my list of options simply because of this play area.

However, that's not all that the brought to the table - literally, ha!

They have a new buffet breakfast with beignets that were like fancy donuts. Mmmmmm!

And all of our food was good. We cleaned our plates and ate until we were so stuffed we almost rolled out.

There are a couple of specials that are especially interesting - $2 Mimosas for the breakfast buffet and every Tuesday, Joe’s is hosting $2 TWOSDAYs at all of its locations, serving up Crab Fritters and a can of Pabst Blue Ribbon in a TWOSDAY Koozie, for only $2 each all day.

Extravagantly . . . A Personal Post

There haven't been many personal posts from me in quite some time. I find I can't schedule them; I simply have to wait until it comes pouring from my emotions through my brain and into my fingertips.

Apparently today, I have something to say.

I've been reading a really challenging book with an unusual title. Brace yourself - it'sGod and Boobs by Angie Schuller-Wyatt. Yep, Schuller, as in Robert Schuller of the Crystal Cathedral. It's written by his granddaughter. I was a little wary when I received a copy to review. Honestly I was afraid it was going to be irreverent at best and unbiblical at worst. But I haven't found that to be true. In fact, I've been very surprised to find it challenging and encouraging of me as a believer and as a woman - fully and completely, a woman.

One of the things that it mentioned is how often we misinterpret the verse "Guard your heart for out of it are all the issues of life." Growing up this verse was used regularly …

I Cried the First Time I Watched My Son Wrestle

My middle son, Colt, told me not too long ago that he wanted to wrestle. We are a sports family, but wrestling has never been one of those sports. AND this child is on the spectrum . . . now, all that really means for him is that he's not going to pick up on any social hints you drop, he's incredibly literal, and he's finicky about sensations. Yes, the child who is finicky about sensations told me he wanted to wrestle - where people are constantly touching you and holding you down and forcing your body into positions you don't want it to be in. But I have always determined that I would not hold my children back by forcing artificial boundaries on them that they don't have for themselves - so if the boy wanted to wrestle, we were going to let him try it out.

A couple of weekends ago, we went to his first wrestling tournament. I was so naive. We were supposed to be there at 9 am, and, in all seriousness, I made plans for 11 am. I thought we would walk in, he would h…

AMAZING Disney Fish Extender Gift Ideas

Being new to the Disney traveler's world meant being new to the FE world . . . and as we researched how we were going to participate in the FE that is a part of our cruise, we came across a lot of good FE ideas so I thought I would share them.

Disney Earrings - there are all kinds and many of them are one-of-a-kind but these are a novelty that I know I would love to get as an FE from someone else

Vintage Mickey Mouse Earrings - $3.99 MindieMay
Disney Character Clothes Pins - These would work well to close bags that hold other FE gifts or you could put a magnet on the back of each one and everyone could use them as note holders on the walls of their stateroom. Super cute - this vendor does a really good job with them.

Wave Phone Holders - If you need more information on what these are, you can see my previous post Top 5 Disney Necessities. Basically these are simple holders for a phone that Disney provides which is a cross between a cell p…
