Drum Roll Please . . .

IMG_2060If you guessed that the two celebrity members I gave you a hint about from Team CureDuchenne were Daryl “Moose” Johnston and Rahib “Rocket” Ismail – you were right!

This day has been a strange, Twilight zone experience as I tweeted earlier today live from the event. First of all, I got up at the crack of dawn and left my house by 6:30 a.m. Not normal, ever. And I’m definitely not ever excited about it.

I drove an hour across town and walked into the largest manufacturing plant I’ve ever been in. It’s the GM plant that produces every Escalade that is ever made! And the cool thing was that we were able to roll out of the plant in a brand new Escalade straight off the assembly line.

The driver? Rocket Ismail! Seriously . . .

Here we are – the four of us that rode together (L to R) Rocket Ismail, Debra Miller – founder of CureDuchenne, Me and Ross – our Cadillac escort, he’s an executive with the company.

This is my favorite picture of my team – Team CureDuchenne. Aren’t they a good looking bunch? I sure think so. (L to R) Rocket Ismail, Debra Miller, Daryl “Moose” Johnston, Dan Pastorini.

We spent the next few hours at a press conference rolling out the Team Escalade Texas competition. One month, six charities, nineteen athletes . . . a whole host of bloggers – whichever charity gets the most votes on the Team Escalade Texas site will receive an additional $150,000.

You can vote for Team CureDuchenne once a day every day on Facebook. Please do that and share the site with your friends and encourage them to share it with their friends. This is a very worthy cause and I want to do my best to help them do well in this competition.

I’ll continue to share with you, but wanted you to have a little glimpse into my CRAZY busy morning.

Extravagantly . . . A Personal Post

There haven't been many personal posts from me in quite some time. I find I can't schedule them; I simply have to wait until it comes pouring from my emotions through my brain and into my fingertips.

Apparently today, I have something to say.

I've been reading a really challenging book with an unusual title. Brace yourself - it'sGod and Boobs by Angie Schuller-Wyatt. Yep, Schuller, as in Robert Schuller of the Crystal Cathedral. It's written by his granddaughter. I was a little wary when I received a copy to review. Honestly I was afraid it was going to be irreverent at best and unbiblical at worst. But I haven't found that to be true. In fact, I've been very surprised to find it challenging and encouraging of me as a believer and as a woman - fully and completely, a woman.

One of the things that it mentioned is how often we misinterpret the verse "Guard your heart for out of it are all the issues of life." Growing up this verse was used regularly …

I Cried the First Time I Watched My Son Wrestle

My middle son, Colt, told me not too long ago that he wanted to wrestle. We are a sports family, but wrestling has never been one of those sports. AND this child is on the spectrum . . . now, all that really means for him is that he's not going to pick up on any social hints you drop, he's incredibly literal, and he's finicky about sensations. Yes, the child who is finicky about sensations told me he wanted to wrestle - where people are constantly touching you and holding you down and forcing your body into positions you don't want it to be in. But I have always determined that I would not hold my children back by forcing artificial boundaries on them that they don't have for themselves - so if the boy wanted to wrestle, we were going to let him try it out.

A couple of weekends ago, we went to his first wrestling tournament. I was so naive. We were supposed to be there at 9 am, and, in all seriousness, I made plans for 11 am. I thought we would walk in, he would h…

AMAZING Disney Fish Extender Gift Ideas

Being new to the Disney traveler's world meant being new to the FE world . . . and as we researched how we were going to participate in the FE that is a part of our cruise, we came across a lot of good FE ideas so I thought I would share them.

Disney Earrings - there are all kinds and many of them are one-of-a-kind but these are a novelty that I know I would love to get as an FE from someone else

Vintage Mickey Mouse Earrings - $3.99 MindieMay
Disney Character Clothes Pins - These would work well to close bags that hold other FE gifts or you could put a magnet on the back of each one and everyone could use them as note holders on the walls of their stateroom. Super cute - this vendor does a really good job with them.

Wave Phone Holders - If you need more information on what these are, you can see my previous post Top 5 Disney Necessities. Basically these are simple holders for a phone that Disney provides which is a cross between a cell p…
