Jamesie and the Giraffe: Can You Please Help?

I’m going to let you know up front that this post is a tear jerker. I have spent the better part of the last hour trying not to cry so loudly I wake everyone in my house.

This little boy – James Sikes – was diagnosed with an aggressive brain tumor on June 29, 2011. He is eight months old. On Saturday, July 16, 2011 Jamesie went to be with Jesus. These pictures were taken a week before he went home.

In honor of this precious little boy’s life, his parents are asking that everyone please submit his name as the unofficial name of the new baby giraffe at the Dallas Zoo. James was apparently big fans of giraffes and I know that seeing their child memorialized like this is something that would mean a lot to these grieving parents.

You should be able to print this, fill it out and mail it to the address listed. You do not need to live in Dallas, in Texas, even in the US. The giraffe is a girl, so the Sikes have suggested “Jamie the Giraffe” would be the most fitting name.

Thank you for taking a few minutes to love someone else . . . just because.
