I don’t like to work out.
I like to eat – the more carbs, the more sugar, the worse for you – that’s what I crave.
I had three babies in just more than 4 years. All gargantuan things that caused my body to contort and distort and be permanently
The more time I spend at home with said children, the more I want to eat. Fast food, cokes, dessert . . . any kind of “treat” to make me not feel like I’m trapped in a miniature insane asylum wiling away my days.
When I get a reprieve, I generally want to celebrate – with food. I go on a date with my hubbie and we eat. I go out with my girl friends and we eat. I go on vacation and we take a cruise and I eat until I have to roll into and out of places.
That doesn’t really paint a pretty picture of my health and fitness, does it?
It’s probably just short of a miracle that I didn’t become obese at some point in there. I’m going to chalk that one up to good genes. (And being to cheap to buy new clothes in bigger sizes.) But I did start adding on some extra padding. More than I wanted. You know when you get to that point that no matter what you put on NOTHING looks attractive because there’s just too much of you under it. I knew it was time to make a change . . .
I don’t know if ya’ll know but I write a deal blog, so when a deal popped up for a local gym and I could get it for FREE with my credits I jumped on it.
It’s small which I like. Even with over 700 members, many times when I go in there are only a handful of us working out. I rarely ever have to wait to use a machine.
But I feel safe. At the risk of sounding cheesy, it’s like coming home. I grew up attending Christian school with a small workout room where the football players, the cheerleaders, the coaches, everyone worked out together in the same space. You didn’t have to deal with dirty old men hitting on you or catty, practically naked women hanging on trainers and flaunting their assets. We went in, we got sweaty, we laughed with each other, we helped each other, we got done, we went home. That is what I would have asked for if I could have designed a gym. That is what I have found at Anytime Fitness of McKinney.
In addition, a membership at Anytime Fitness of McKinney qualifies you to use any other Anytime Fitness franchise all over the world. So if you travel, you don’t have to miss out on your workout or pay a ridiculous temporary fee to use a gym in or near your hotel.
Zech Fagan is the owner of Anytime Fitness. He’s a big old boy who clearly has some experience with weight training and fitness. But, more than that, he’s a nice guy who will make you feel welcome and at ease.
I’ve had a couple of training session with a guy named Charlie who is awesome at what he does. I would highly recommend him for anyone who needs that extra encouragement and accountability.
If you are looking for a place to work out, this is it!
