School Supplies: HELP?!?

So my oldest is set to start Kindergarten in just a couple of weeks. We have been given the following school supply list:First, I have already pre-purchased some of these supplies that were not the brands specified. I have heard two different things – some of my friends feel it is imperative to purchase the exact item listed and others buy what is available, on sale or already in their possession regardless of brand. What’s your take on that? And second, my husband strongly objects to the community approach of combining everyone’s property and handing it out each time it is used. He would rather our boys have to learn to take care of their things and have to deal with their own consequences if they break their crayons or leave the caps off their own markers rather than dealing with the aftermath of the last child’s use. I have read recommendations that say to label everything with your child’s name to alleviate this. What do you do?

LOCAL: Kroger Deals Including $2.99 Pampers Splashers

Ran to Kroger today with all of my boys – the only way I survived is that I went to the one at Alma/McDermott for you local folks and it has childcare! Always thought that was kind of sketchy until I checked it out. My boys watch tv and play video games while I shop. I can see them on video monitors all around the store and routinely go check to make sure they aren’t trying to pull each other’s hair out. This set up has made it much easier for me to shop and find some decent deals. Today, I found some awesome stuff. In the clearance section of this Target (to the left of the front doors) they had Pampers Splashers for $2.99! They had sizes 3-4 and 6. I am currently using a reusable swim diaper but for this price I grabbed one box in each size. I had coupons, so in the end I only paid about $1.25 each for them. There were more so the first few of you to get by there will be able to get in on the deal. They also have a good cereal deal going – Buy 4 GM cereals get 2 gallons of milk FREE. T…

$3 for $6 of yogurt at Tutti FruttiI’ve been on a frozen  yogurt kick lately. The store has Wifi for mom and fun games for the kids, so you can kill some time and have a yummy snack too.

Seventh Generation Diapers Only $5.33 a Package!

**Amazon prices will increase as demand for this item increases, so if the specifics don't match exactly that is why.**

Last year when Weston was born, I had the opportunity to review a large package of Seventh Generation products. I was most impressed with their diapers, and told you if I could find them competitively priced I would prefer for my baby to wear them over the alternative choices.

Well, here’s a deal where you can get them competitively priced . . .

Amazon is offering a 4 pack of diapers for just $30.47. If you use the Subscribe and Save option (to the right on the ordering screen), you can save an additional amount bringing your total down to $21.33 or $5.33 a package. I would grab Huggies or Pampers at that price and I truly believe the quality of the Seventh Generation diapers is even better.

Set your subscription rate to 6 months, and then remember to cancel it or you will receive another shipment of these automatically after that amount of time has passed.

$2 Gift Certificates from is offering 80% off their coupon/gift certificates from now until July 31. Just enter the code SAVE at checkout.Aound our house we are big fans of this 80% off sale. Last year we purchased the Dinner of the Month club during a 80% off sale. I think it cost me about $20 total. For that cost, I got 12 months of $25 gift certificates at any restaurant in their program. We have eaten all over with those certificates. Now you do have to know that they are not quite the same as a gift card. Usually, they are like $25 off your meal when you buy 2 entrees. Sometimes, they are $10 off when you spend $20 . . . so they’re more like high dollar coupons. But if we’re going to spend full price to eat somewhere and we can cut that by half or more than half by purchasing $2 gift certificates, I’m all over that.

Reusable Swim Diapers Just $5.99!

The diaper I purchased from Amazon was regularly $12.99 and I was able to get it for $8.99. But today on Zulily they have several adorable prints for just $5.99!I just bought another one since these were such a good deal – look for them under the “I play Boys” section. If you are already a Zulily customer, you should use this link.

Stop Getting a Bill for Your Cell Phone

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of TracFone for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine. These real TracFone customers are excited about not having a cell phone bill. I'm pretty sure that most of us would be pleased by that. It seems that children are younger and younger asking for cell phones. I can't imagine adding two or three more phone bills into our budget. But there are other options - one of them is Tracfone. With Tracfone there are no contracts, no credit checks, no activation costs or cancelation fees. You don't have to worry that there will be hidden charges that jack your bill up unexpectedly. But you still get great coverage and name brand phones from companies such as Motorola, Samsung, and Nokia. According to real TracFone customers one of their favorite features is that you can call internationally to 60 different countries for the same price as a domestic call. You can even provide your family and friends in Mexico and Canada with a local …
